We are a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognised training Centre, offering the full range of RYA practical and theory sail training Courses based on the RYA Cruising Scheme. We are the only School offering RYA Yachtmaster Fastrack training in SE Asia.

We operate out of the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club Marina, Langkawi, Malaysia. This is in Kuah near the main ferry terminal. Our Courses take place in the stunning Andaman Sea, situated between the Indian Ocean and the West Coast of Thailand and Malaysia. Our sailing area extends as far as Singapore in the South and Burma in the North. Crew change Ports include Port Klang, Penang, Langkawi, and Phuket in Thailand, SE Asia.
Shorebased Courses;
Online learning package including, Course pack, tuition, exam fees, and certificates.
Practical Courses;
Fuel, mooring fees, Customs and immigration charges, bedding, tuition, RYA Certificates and your food and accommodation onboard.
Practical Courses;
- Food and drink taken ashore
- Drinks onboard excluding water, fruit juices, tea and Coffee.
- Towels.
- RYA Yachtmaster and Coastal Skipper Exam Fees. (Payable direct to the RYA)
- Personal Travel Insurance (we recommend you arrange an insurance covering adventure pursuits such as Offshore sailing).
Food onboard is a very important part of your enjoyment of the Course. We try our best to ensure all tastes are catered for. The yachts are supplied with enough food for breakfast, lunch and 2 evening meals for each 5 day Course. Your Instructor is supplied with a cash float to top up with fresh supplies when required.
Part of the RYA course training is learning to prepare food and cook while at sea. As part of the crew you will make a contribution to the running of the yacht. This includes the preparation of meals and clean up afterwards.
Yes, your joining instructions ask you to inform us of any special food requirements. We will do our best to accommodate your requests.
Each Course has a maximum of 5 students on each boat.
Our 5 day practical course starts at 1900hrs on a Sunday evening. The Course finishes with clean up and issue of certificates on Friday evening. You will be clear of the yacht by around 1700hrs.
Our Sail Training Modules and Fastrack Courses are an extension of this and based around the same framework.
No, each Course will have a mixture of experience, ability, and level of competence, trainee Skippers will be working with all levels which is perfect for learning from each other.

We will request information from you about your previous experience and any qualifications you already have. We also ask you why you want to do the course. We will then advise you the best way to progress with your training and which course will suit you best. Pre-Course requirements are posted on our website for each Course.

The yacht will always be close to an International airport for the crew change. Airports are Langkawi and Phuket with regular and cheap flights to Kuala Lumpur they are the most convenient. Detailed directions of how to find us and where to meet are included in your Course Joining Instructions.
You will need a valid passport with an expiry date of at least 6 months from the date you return. Also make sure there are some free pages for entry and exit stamps in your passport. We advise you to check with the local authorities, the rules for your own Passport.

Immunizations
Please check with your Doctor which jabs you need.
Malaria is not a problem in Coastal Areas.

Our Vessels are approved RYA training vessels. They comply with the RYA Safety Equipment check list and carry LifeRafts, Life Jackets, Flares, Fire Fighting Equipment, First aid Kit, etc. They are inspected Annually by a representative from the RYA
Sleeping space is allocated on a course by course basis and this is done at the start of the course. You may have to share your cabin but we try to keep cabins available for couples or friends if we can. If you want your own cabin, this can be arranged if we have space, by paying a single supplement fee. Contact us for details.
These are available at most ports of call and they usually have an overnight service.
Wireless connections are available at all the marinas. You can also get online via mobile phone. Coverage is good and reasonably priced.
On a typical 5 day practical Course we would sail between 120-200 Nm. The ports visited will depend on the trip you sign up for. Click here for program

A valid First Aid Certificate is a requirement of the Yachmaster qualification.

We can arrange a one day course during a weekend for those that need it.
